Charlotte is fast becoming a National sports hub… with NBA Charlotte Bobcats, minor league Hockey, AAA Baseball and the home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, Charlotte has something to cheer about! Some of the Nation’s hottest stock car racing can be seen at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The three NASCAR Winston Cup events: The Coca Cola 600, the Winston and the Mello Yello 500 take place here in Charlotte. Charlotte is also home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame located in Uptown Charlotte!

Golf lovers are fortunate to see the new Wells Fargo Championships at Quail Hollow Country Club May 5th through the 11th. There are also approximately 60 public and private golf courses in the immediate Charlotte region.

It was founded by Bill France, Sr. in 1947–48. As of 2009, the CEO for the company is Brian France, grandson of Bill France, Sr. NASCAR is the largest sanctioning body of stock car racing in the United States. The three largest racing series sanctioned by NASCAR are the Sprint Cup Series, the Nationwide Series, and the Camping World Truck Series. It also oversees NASCAR Local Racing, the Whelen Modified Tour, the Whelen All-American Series, and the NASCAR iRacing.com Series. NASCAR sanctions over 1500 races at over 100 tracks in 39 US states and Canada. NASCAR has presented exhibition races at the Suzuka and Motegi circuits in Japan, Mexico, and Calder Park Raceway in Australia.
are a collegiate football program that represents the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees officially voted to add Forty Niner football on November 13, 2008, after a unanimous recommendation by the Football Feasibility Committee. The program will take the field in 2013.
